Light Notes #22: Camila Mendes, Charriol Philippines 2016

Throwback to March 23, 2016, the day I decided to buy myself a Rime Lite Fame 6 set, which was a package of 2 lights, 2 stands, an octabox, and a strip box. Everything looked and smelled new, until I plugged in one of the lights and my old home studio smelled like burning rubber. Until now I don’t really know what caused the light to short circuit, but good thing Shutter Master replaced the unit the day of.

The main light for the shoot was an octabox, angled down from the side of our model Camila. I didn’t want the main light to leak too much unto the background, and so we stationed her quite far from it. A strip box served to create separation from the background by outlining her back, hair, and dress. Once Meg finalized her direction and styling of the Charriol products, we started positioning a white styroboard to help illuminate the jewelry.
